Slightly personal, but no jump needed. I was diagnosed with Celiac-Sprue disease in 2002 at age 6 and was put on a gluten free diet. My last gluten containing meal was a soy-nut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread. But last wednesday I took a fairly new genetic test that didnt exist when I was first diagnosed, and awaiting results I have a colonoscopy scheduled for the 29th (my 10th since 2002). My doc wants me to eat a bit of gluten every day until the procedure, so I got some cheesy bread at dominos.
OMG I’m in heaven. Hopefully I’m not actually celiac so I can continue eating this glorious food for the rest of my life.

Good luck! I went to high school with a girl with celiac’s. Should be a delicious 9 days!

The issue with my initial diagnosis is I also have Crohn’s disease, and while it was very active in 2002, its in remission now. And while celiac affects 2% of the population, within that 2% another 2% also has Crohn’s. Considering the statistics, the going theory is my crohns was manifesting as celiac. Also no side effects so far, so yay

“My last gluten containing meal was a soy-nut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread” Isn’t that like finding out your license will be canceled tomorrow, and spending the day at the Toyota dealership?

Isn’t bread with butter and garlic the best

Good luck. Celiac’s disease is awful. Hopefully you don’t have it and can eat gluten again. Have some pizza for me.

Good luck buddy!
My wife has several food allergies one of the main ones being allergic to all things wheat based. Several biopsies and lots of trips to the doctor. It’s a tough life to live but doable. She hasn’t had a reaction in over 5 years. So far it looks like our son dodged that bullet. Stay strong!

And cheese. Don’t forget the cheese.

I mean.... i grabbed some pizza on Friday night. Does that count?

Eh, close enough.
I’d recommend a cheese bread or pizza in the next few days to be safe though.

It really is, the best part is my girlfriend works at dominos so I got to use her discount on it :)

I can’t put in words how awesome this is

Hope things turn out well! My wife is kind of on the other end. She was tested for Celiac, but it was negative. However, she gets very sick if she has any gluten. It sucks how much stuff you have to give up or compromise on.

Are you allergic to nuts?
![]() 03/21/2016 at 12:36 |
|
Yea
![]() 03/21/2016 at 12:40 |

First, I hope everything turns out with the test! Also, hurray! I’m PA and TA (as well as seafood/cumin/mango/bamboo shoots) all anaphylactic.
![]() 03/21/2016 at 12:52 |
|
Im PA, TA (except almonds), im also allergic to freshwater fish, sesame and sunflower seeds, as well as all non steroidal anti inflammatories (ie: Advil, ibuprofen, aspirin, etc...) All anaphylactic as well

Same for me on the almonds! Have you actually gone ahead and eaten them? I haven’t gotten the bullocks to try yet, nor have I found TA/PA free ones.
Ouch :( sesame sucks :/ but NSAIDs really sucks :/ what do you do about pain?
![]() 03/21/2016 at 13:31 |

I found a brand of almonds out of california that doesnt make any other nut; Madi K’s. So yeah, Ive eaten almonds. http://madiks.com/
And for pain I do only tylenol, if it gets bad enough I have to see a doc about vicoden

I’m going to see if I can find them locally anywhere. Otherwise it’s time for another trip to cali!
Ahhh okay, that makes sense!

I used to be able to find them at sprouts, but they stopped carrying them. So every 3 mos or so I order a case from amazon.

Oh good idea! I’m north of the border but will see ifI can do that :D how hesitant were you at trying almonds?
![]() 03/21/2016 at 14:09 |
|
Pretty hesitant, but I did alot of research before I even opened a bag. I even abraded my skin and rubbed an almond on it to do a redneck skin test before I tried them
![]() 03/21/2016 at 14:16 |
|
I will likely be doing the same haha
![]() 03/21/2016 at 15:27 |

Why would you want to start eating wheat? A little mouth pleasure isn't worth the ill health effects from it that everyone has regardless of celiac

My friends kid spilt a sippy cup of almond milk on my arm once.(3-4 drops)It was horrible.
